Actor Niharika Konidela and technician Chaitanya JV tied the knot in a fairytale wedding in Udaipur on December 9, 2020. However, a year after the marriage, rumors about their separation started doing the rounds and the couple confirmed on their Instagram accounts in July 2023 that had divided paths. While both parties remained silent, Niharika spoke about her divorce for the first time in a podcast with her friend, Nikhil Vijayendra Simha. Her ex-husband reacted the same way. ‘I know how much it hurt’

Niharika was candid about how being married and divorced changed her for better or worse. “I’m at a stage in life where I want to focus on myself, I also want to be there for my parents,” she said. She added that she has always depended on her parents and she didn’t know how to function any other way. “You can’t depend on the wrong person,” she said, adding: “I’ve been divorced for almost two years, only I know how much it hurt me.”

She further added that while she was used to people bothering her online, it hurt her to see them talking about her family in a bad way. “I am grateful to have a father like Nagababu who said that he doesn’t care what others think and that I am the best thing that can happen to him, I deserve to be happy. “My divorce has shown me the value of family.”

However, she stated that the split meant she “cried a lot” but was also a “lesson not to trust people.” She said: “Everyone gets married hoping it will be for life, but things didn’t go as I expected. I’m only 30 years old, I haven’t closed my heart to love. But first I want to be independent and work on myself before committing to a relationship. For now I am single.”

‘The pain is the same for both of us’

Although Chaitanya was not a guest on the podcast, he endured being heard by everyone who watched the interview. He left a comment on Nikhil’s Instagram post about the podcast, addressing the interviewer, but not his ex-wife.

He wrote: “You should stop trying to use reach and platform to indirectly try to attach victim and cause labels regarding marriage. This is the second time this has happened. The pain of things not working and the healing process and test are the same for both purposes. (sic)”

She added: “The concept of not talking about divorce, and especially only one side of it, exists so as not to interfere with or break that healing again for any of the people involved. Talking about the pain afterwards and healing is fine, that will help people. In the future, instead of indirect involvement of the story and fitting in words like trust, what will be recommended is to involve all parties and go over the timeline if you are interested in knowing and raising public awareness. (sic)”

Both Niharika and Nikhil are yet to respond to him.
