Nitish Bharadwaj, known for his role in the epic television series Mahabharat, has reportedly filed a complaint against his ex-wife Smita Gate, alleging mental harassment and unruly behavior.

According to a report in Free Press Journal, the actor approached Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra on Wednesday and lodged a written complaint against Smita Gate. Nitish in his complaint claimed that after twelve years of marriage, both he and Smita had mutually filed for divorce in 2018 in the Mumbai family court. However, their divorce case is still pending. Nitish accused Smita, who is currently holding the post of additional chief secretary in the MP Human Rights Commission in Bhopal, of preventing him from meeting his twin daughters, Devyani and Shivranjani.

In his complaint, Nitish detailed how Smita allegedly obstructed his access to his daughters by frequently changing schools. This, she claimed, had a detrimental impact on her mental well-being. Nitish appealed to the Bhopal PC to intervene in the situation and facilitate meetings with her daughters.

The police commissioner confirmed to the Free Press Journal that he had received Nitish Bharadwaj’s request and assigned investigating officer Phalguni Dixit to investigate the matter. This indicates that authorities are taking the complaint seriously and are launching an investigation.

Nitish Bharadwaj and Smita Gate got married in 2009 and are parents to twin daughters. However, after twelve years of marriage, they decided to separate and filed for divorce in the Mumbai Family Court in September 2019. Despite the court process, the issue regarding custody and access to their daughters remains unresolved, prompting Nitish to seek police intervention.
