According to her statement, in February 2023, Munn took a genetic test that looked for cancer genes, including BRCA, the most well-known breast cancer gene, and tested negative across the board, only to discover two months later that she had breast cancer. mother. cancer.
“I kept the diagnosis, the worry, the recovery, the painkillers and the paper gowns private,” he writes. “I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before sharing them.”
Munn highlights the importance of people asking their doctors to calculate their breast cancer risk assessment score, since she did so at the urging of her OB-GYN, who sent her a health plan that included an MRI, an ultrasound and a biopsy, all helping in early detection.
“The fact that he did it saved my life,” Munn says of his doctor’s proactive testing.
