Contraceptives and morning-after pills were handed out at US pop star Olivia Rodrigo’s concert in Missouri, where abortion is banned.

Concertgoers were able to pick up free condoms and emergency contraceptives at booths at the St. Louis venue.

Last month, the Drivers License singer launched the Fund 4 Good campaign, a global initiative for people “seeking reproductive health freedom.”

Birth control methods, such as the morning-after pill, are legal in the United States.

But abortions in the US state of Missouri are illegal, with the exception of saving the life of a pregnant woman or preventing risks to physical health.

A proceeds from Rodrigo’s tour, which has partnered with the National Network of Abortion Funds, will go to the 4 Bien Fund.

An activist with Right by You, a text line that helps teens find abortion services outside of Missouri, he told the guard Rodrigo had invited charities, but it was his choice to distribute contraceptives.

Missouri Republican State Senator Bill Eigel published in X that the singer should be “ashamed” for handing out an “abortivo,” a drug that causes abortions.

However, morning after pills prevent, not terminate, pregnancy and the NHS website says, “Emergency contraception can prevent you from getting pregnant after having unprotected sex… You should use emergency contraception within 3 to 5 days after having unprotected sex.”

This is not the first time that Rodrigo has made his position on abortion public.

She used her Glastonbury debut in 2022 to protest against the overturning of Roe v Wade, which eliminated the federal right to abortion.

The anti-abortion movement celebrated a historic victory, while pro-choice activists warned of a looming public health crisis.

With Lily Allen, the pair sang one of Allen’s expletive-filled songs.

“I am devastated and terrified that so many women and so many girls are going to die because of this,” Rodrigo said.

“I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have shown us that, at the end of the day, they really don’t care about freedom.”
