The OnePlus Watch 2 has been officially announced, and while some key details are still being kept under wraps, we’ve gotten a first look at the product and its main focus: battery life.

In a forum post Today, OnePlus officially shows off the OnePlus Watch 2.

The new smartwatch is shown in its two colors, “Black Steel” and “Radiant Steel”, and OnePlus confirms several key details. First of all, the OnePlus Watch 2 will have an official release date of February 26, less than a week from today.

OnePlus explains that it took “a three-year pause and a reflective pause after the OnePlus Watch 1” that led to this new product. The brand is apparently aiming to “win the title of Best Flagship Smartwatch of the Year with market-beating battery life.”

To do this, the OnePlus Watch 2 has a battery life of 100 hours in its “Smart Mode”.

OnePlus’ post doesn’t explain what “Smart Mode” is or what the watch will be able to do when it lasts 100 hours, but it is a big say. The Pixel Watch 2, for example, only has a 24-hour battery life.

Beyond that, the post also confirms that the OnePlus Watch 2 will have a stainless steel frame and sapphire crystal over the display. OnePlus further promises “unparalleled reliability for everyday use and meticulous health monitoring” on the Watch 2.

The big question, however, is whether this device actually has Wear OS. In this entire OnePlus post, there is no mention of what software the device is running. That reflects our frustrations in 2021, when OnePlus left out that key detail until the last minute. But, with OnePlus saying it’s time to “get it right” and leaks claiming Wear OS is coming, it certainly seems Like we got it. However, how that is possible with a 100-hour battery life remains to be seen.
