Veteran ghazal playback singer and Padma Shri recipient Pankaj Udhas died after a prolonged illness at the age of 72 on Monday (February 26, 2024). He breathed his last today at 11 am in Mumbai. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for some time. Udhas family also broke the news to his fans. In the official note, the family said that the singer was suffering from a prolonged illness. Nayaab, the daughter of the veteran ghazal singer, shared a statement on Instagram. “It is with a heavy heart that we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on February 26, 2024 due to a prolonged illness,” she reads the official statement.

Pankaj ji’s mortal remains are still at Breach Candy Hospital. The last rites will be performed tomorrow. For the unversed, the late singer is survived by his two daughters, Nayaab and Rewa Udhas.
