The Penguin has a new trailer showcasing Max’s upcoming drama series and the next story in Matt Reeves’ The Batman saga.

The trailer shows Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb deep in conversation as he recounts a previous crime boss he clearly hopes to emulate. The Penguin is the sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman, in which Farrell made his debut as the famous Gotham gangster.

The Penguin debuts this fall with an eight-episode DC Studios series starring the aforementioned Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen. It is produced by Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Lauren LeFranc, who writes and serves as showrunner, Craig Zobel, who directs the first three episodes, and Bill Carraro.

Meanwhile, the sequel to Robert Pattinson’s 2022 The Batman movie is due out on October 2, 2026 after a full year delay. Not much is known about the sequel, which was first announced alongside James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU in early 2023. Gunn confirmed that The Batman – Part II will be part of Matt Reeves’ “crime saga” trilogy that includes the Penguin TV Series. gunn said that Having Batman be separate from the DCU was Reeves’ choice.

While The Batman – Part II will not be part of the overall DCU, Gunn said it will not be a “stepchild” and that Warner Bros. “is fully invested in the success of The Batman, just as we are in everything else.” Gunn and Safran are planning their own Batman movie for the DCU, titled The Brave and the Bold, which is expected to be released in 2026 or 2027.
