Poonam Pandey and her husband Sam Bombay have been slapped with a $100 Crore Defamation Case for His Fake Death Stunt. The case accuses Pandey and Bombay of trivializing a serious illness and creating a “false death conspiracy,” according to a report from Indian Times saying.

Earlier this month, Pandey’s team announced that she had passed away due to cervical cancer. However, there was no official confirmation of her death.

The next day, February 3, Poonam Pandey appeared in a video on her social media saying that she was alive and wanted to raise awareness about a disease that “claims the lives of thousands of women.”

“I feel compelled to share something important with all of you: I am here, alive. Cervical cancer did not kill me, but, tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women due to a lack of knowledge about how to address this problem . illness,” the 32-year-old actor posted on Instagram with the video.

This sparked a backlash on social media. Celebrities and ordinary people alike criticized the hoax, calling it “ridiculous” and “shameful.” Among them were Bipasha Basu, Nikki Tamboli, Mini Mathur and Pooja Bhatt.

The Association of All India Cinema Workers (AICWA) also demanded a case against Pandey for playing with the emotions of people in India. Maharashtra MLC Satyajeet Tambe also urged the Mumbai Police to take legal action against Poonam.

Later, the media company Schbang, which participated in the fake death stunt, also apologized. However, he continued to maintain that the campaign has produced great results.
