Popular rock drummer dies at 57 from brain cancer

Brit TurnerFounding member and drummer of the southern rock band. blackberry smoke, has died. She was 57 years old.

Turner reportedly died of glioblastoma, a brain cancer, with which he was first diagnosed in late 2022. rolling stone reported who underwent surgery to have the tumor removed in November. Following the removal of his brain tumor, Turner reportedly continued to tour with the band.

The band announced Turner’s passing on Sunday night via their social media pages at Facebook, Twitter and instagram.

“If you had the privilege of knowing Brit on any level, you know that she was the most caring, empathetic, driven and endearing person one could ever hope to meet,” the post read. “Brit was the true north of Blackberry Smoke, the compass that established the ideology that will continue to guide this band. Brit has battled glioblastoma since his diagnosis in the fall of 2022 and has fought every day.”

The band ended the post by saying that more information about the arrangements would be coming soon.

Fans and friends showed their support for the band in the Instagram comments, including Duane Betts, tomboy walker, The steel forests and more.

“Brit was an incredible human being and I feel very privileged to have been able to get to know him as well as I did,” Betts wrote.

“I’m heartbroken and I’ve been crying all night, but I know he’s finally at peace,” Walker wrote in her comment.

Blackberry Smoke was formed in 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia. According to the rolling stone, the band “reinvigorated southern rock by combining a heavy dose of country music with heavy guitar licks.” They released 10 albums, including 2015’s “Holding All the Roses” and 2016’s “Like An Arrow,” which reached No. 1 on the country music charts.
