The English Premier League is nearing its final third of this season, and two teams will face off on Monday in their second league matches since the January transfer window deadline.
Crystal Palace (24 points, 15th in Premier League) host Chelsea (31 points, 11th) for the 24th league match of each club’s season. Palace enters the day with two wins and three losses in its last five league clashes, including a loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in late December. The Blues have won three of their previous five Premier League matches and enter Monday off of a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Jack Ogalbe writes, “Defending has been Chelsea’s main problem this season… The Blues did look more cohesive in the FA Cup win at Aston Villa but still gave up 15 shots. That will encourage Palace, who have scored in four of their previous five at home in all competitions…. While [Chelsea manager] Mauricio Pochettino’s side should have enough to get the points, it is unlikely to be a routine victory.”

Greg Lea writes, “[Crystal Palace] will also be without arguably their four best players in Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Marc Guehi and Cheick Doucoure. This could be a great opportunity for Chelsea to capitalise.”
