Prince Harry broke his silence on Friday about the cancer diagnosis of his estranged father, King Charles.

In an interview with “Good Morning America,” the Duke of Sussex said he “loves his family” and is “grateful” to have been able to visit his ailing father.

“Look, I love my family,” the father of two, 39, told host Will Reeve on Friday. “I’m grateful for the fact that I was able to get on a plane and go see him and spend time with him.”

Asked if his father’s diagnosis could have a “reunifying effect” on his family, Harry said: “Absolutely. If I’m sure.”

“In all these families (Invictus) I see that day by day the strength of the family unit comes together. I believe that any illness, any illness, brings families together,” he added.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are currently in Canada, where they spent Valentine’s Day together earlier this week at the Invictus Games 2025 winter training camp.

The pair were seen braving the frigid temperatures in Whistler, while Harry even tried out a variety of winter sports, including skeleton sledding.

Harry’s interview comes just days after his ailing father returned to London to undergo more cancer treatments.

The 75-year-old monarch revealed his cancer diagnosis on February 5 and has since begun outpatient treatment.

Over the weekend, Charles broke his silence about the shocking diagnosis and thanked the public for the support he has received since the news broke.

Charles said those thoughts are “the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

The King’s diagnosis led Harry to take an urgent flight from LAX to London last week, which took him to his homeland for just 24 hours.

The duke reportedly stayed in a hotel during his trip to London, rather than staying with his family at any of his royal residences spread across the country.

He reportedly only spoke to his father for just 45 minutes before taking a flight back to his home in Montecito, California, to join Markle and their two children.
