Prince William and Princess Anne will take the reins from Queen Camilla as she quickly goes on vacation after a busy few weeks.
King Charles’ wife is said to be “exhausted” from having to take on an extra workload following her husband’s cancer diagnosis, and will be heading on a sunny getaway this week. The sun informs.
Camilla, 76, has undertaken 13 official commitments alone since the news of the King’s delicate state of health came to light.
He will now spend a few days of private downtime to get away from it all, before returning to the royal fold on March 11 at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
Last week, Camilla led the royal family at a memorial service for Greece’s King Constantine at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, after the Prince of Wales, 41, mysteriously pulled out at the last minute.
“Although she did not expect to find herself in the position of leading the family, the Queen is absolutely willing to do whatever is necessary for the institution,” said a source close to Camilla. told the Sunday Times.
“The public reaction has encouraged her. She has found reserves of energy that not even she thought she had, and the esteem in which those inside the palace have of her has skyrocketed as she has set to work.”
Another insider added: “Her Majesty is solid, positive and determined to move forward while the King is not on public duty. “The King is proud and pleased to see the Queen and the wider family keeping the show going.”
William will now take on an additional workload, as will Anne, the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The King’s siblings are scheduled to appear at Rising Brook Community Church, Savoy Chapel, Right Stuff Amateur Boxing Club, National Equine Forum and more outings while the Queen is on break.
Although he has mainly taken care of his wife, William was seen hanging out with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney last week.
