Prithviraj Sukumaran talks about his breakup with Bollywood and mocks Bade Miyan Chote Miyan | Exclusive

The teaser of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was revealed recently and it generated a lot of chatter on social media. The action entertainer stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead with Prithviraj Sukumaran playing the antagonist. Interestingly, it marks the Malayalam star’s return to Bollywood after seven years, with his last Hindi film being Naam Shabana (2017).

While not much is known about his character yet, Prithviraj, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, shed some light on the film. “It will surprise a lot of people because of its scale and plot. It’s a really exciting script. I don’t know how anyone could say no to the character I play in the movie. It’s unique. I am really looking forward to its release,” he said. Praising Ali Abbas Zafar, he added, “Ali is a fantastic filmmaker. “I really get along with him and understand how he visualizes and perceives things.”

When asked about his absence from Hindi cinema, Prithviraj candidly shared, “The fact is, I didn’t find anything exciting. I, of course, read scripts and listened to narrations. But I didn’t think anything was exciting enough to justify me taking time off from Malayalam cinema and coming here and making a film.”

However, the Salaar actor revealed that he would no longer like to have such long gaps between Hindi films. In fact, he is especially interested in directing a comedy film in Bollywood soon. “I would love to make and direct more comic films. But it is one of the most difficult genres to write. Comedy on Instagram reels for 60 seconds is much easier to make than a genuinely organic comedy feature length that lasts over two hours. I hope to find more scripts like Bro Daddy (2022). In fact, I would love to do a comedy film in Hindi,” said Prithviraj, who debuted in Bollywood with Aiyyaa (2012).

And now that pan-Indian films are becoming the theme of the season, do you intend to direct a multilingual Hindi film as well? “The first thing to understand here is that you cannot make a pan-Indian film. The film goes pan-Indian. You don’t set out to think, ‘Let me make a pan-Indian film.’ “This is a discussion that I have had with several companies at discussion tables where I told them that we were thinking wrong,” he explained.

He added: “When you look at all the pan-India hits, you will see that they were not hits because of who was in them. When someone asks me if a certain character can be played by someone from the Hindi film industry or Telugu film industry, they are basically doing it to understand that the film is relatable across languages because actors from various industries will be a part of it. “.

On a related note, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F. Filmed in locations like Mumbai, London, Abu Dhabi, Scotland and Jordan, it is billed as a large-scale Hollywood-style action film . cinematic visuals. Its theatrical release is scheduled for Eid 2024.
