It looks like Brad Pitt will be reuniting with Quentin Tarantino for the last time as the famed director embarks on his latest film. Deadline reports that Brad Pitt will be in the cast of The Movie Critic, which is said to feature a ’70s movie critic who writes reviews for a porn magazine.
If Pitt is indeed involved in The Movie Critic, it will be his third collaboration with Tarantino, having previously appeared in Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It is unclear if Brad Pitt will play the lead role.
Elsewhere in the report, Tarantino is said to have done quite a bit of rewriting since May 2023, when he first revealed details of his next film and dismissed speculation that it was about New York critic Pauline Kael. Instead, Tarantino said he was based on a real-life writer who was “very, very funny” and “wrote like he was 55, but he was only in his 30s.” Pitt, for what it’s worth, is 60 years old.
“I think he was a very good critic. He was as cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro’s character in Taxi Driver) might be if he were a movie critic.” Tarantino said. At the time.
Tarantino has otherwise remained tight-lipped about the film while working on the script. When it is finally released, The Movie Critic will be Tarantino’s tenth and final film, joining Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and other classic works.
