The lineup for Roots Picnic 2024 was announced on Monday, featuring Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, André 3000, Victoria Monét and more. Sexyy Red was also part of the list, which sparked a backlash. The Roots’ Questlove, however, has come to his defense.

Damn… hell freezes over when I like a post from Mel.

There’s always that pop on the show that everyone hates because it serves as a reminder that the hip hop they like is from 30 years ago.

I mean, I get it, but look: we have to round out and balance the day: there are other stages, podcasts and events to check out.

I’m still amazed that everyone has the energy for “oh hell no isms” like they’re 16 years old, folks. When have you seen a festival where EVERY ACT is the act you love?

I mean the way I see it: the cats here bring some energy: Meanwhile, there’s a whole Jill post and an Amerie post and a Black Thought post and a Meth & Red post and I don’t see/hear anything of “I love real.” music” person who SUPPORTS that page.

Almost worth it just for this commitment and trolling was the last thing on my mind lol

Roots Picnic is complete and that’s why it works.
