Earlier this week, we revealed how a trained task force called ‘Team 0%’ was attempting to complete all community levels in the original Super Mario Maker game before Nintendo shut down online functionality for the Wii U and 3DS in April 8, 2024.

While struggling to beat a final level called ‘Trimming the Weeds’, the story has since taken a bit of a turn: the creator of this level confirmed that it was an “illegitimate upload” (thank you, avenadome). Therefore, the final community level was in fact “The Last Dance”, which was surpassed by ‘Yamada_SMM2’ on March 15, 2024.

That means that all levels of the game’s community have already been surpassed. Mission accomplished! This is part of what the team behind this effort said in an update:

“Trimming the weeds was actually a TAS (tool-assisted rapid stroke), making ‘The Last Dance’ the final level cleared!”

To get to this point, the Mario Maker community had to overcome a whopping 25,000 undefeated levels since last October. It is once again a tremendous feat!

That’s all folks! The closure of the Wii U and 3DS online services will occur next April. If you have any last-minute things you want to do while the service is still active, now is the time to boot up these older Nintendo devices. You can learn more about the closure in our guide:
