Rebecca Ferguson reflects on a time she was yelled at by a former co-star.
In an interview about Reign with Josh Smith podcast, the Dune: Part Two The actress recalled that a co-star got angry on set and yelled at her. Ferguson didn’t name the film set where this happened or the co-star, although she confirmed it wasn’t Hugh Jackman or Tom Cruise.
“I made a movie with an absolutely idiotic co-star, no matter who it is. I’m going to try not to give this away, but I remember there was a time where this human being was very insecure and angry because he couldn’t pull off the scenes. And I think he was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that they yelled at me,” he said.
She explained that “because this person was number one on the call sheet, there was no safety net” for her. “So no one supported me. And I would cry walking off the set,” Ferguson said. “This person would literally look at me in front of the entire crew and say, ‘You call yourself an actor?’ Is this what I have to work with? What is this?’ And I stayed there, devastated.”
Ferguson said she felt “scared” after the ordeal and confronted her co-star, noting it was the first time she spoke for herself as an actress. “I looked at this person and said, ‘Get off my set.’ You can go out. I’m going to work to get a tennis ball. I do not want to see you again.'”
After producers informed him that he couldn’t do that to “number one” and that the person would have to stay on set, Ferguson said, “The person can turn around and I can act on the back of the head.” And that’s what she did. “I remember thinking that time that he was so scared. I feel it now when I say it,” she continued. “But I thought, ‘It shouldn’t have to be like this.’”
When he later confronted the director about what was happening, he recalled the director telling him, “You’re right. I’m not taking care of everyone else. I am trying to fool this person because he is very unstable.”
“It was great from that point on, but it took me a long time to get there,” he said. “From that point on, I never allowed myself to get to a point where I came home and said, ‘Why did that happen?’”

Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on our set. I love that woman. “I would like to know who did this.”
