Caitlin Clark broke Kelsey Plum‘s NCAA women’s basketball scoring record in No. 4 Iowa women’s basketball‘s 106-89 victory vs. Michigan tonight.
Not only did she make history for the sport, but she also set the program record for points scored in a game with 49.

Tonight will undoubtedly go down as one of the most memorable games in NCAA women’s basketball history as Caitlin Clark breaks two records and the Hawkeyes earn a crucial bounce-back victory.
Caitlin Clark sets new career-high, Iowa program record with 49 points
In perhaps the most anticipated college basketball game of the season, Clark rose to the occasion with arguably the best game of her career: 49 points, 13 assists, nine 3s.
She exited then exited the game to applause as Iowa leads 103-86 with under two minutes remaining.

Kate Martin has gotten going in this fourth quarter and is now up to 17 points with three triples.
It’s a balanced effort otherwise from Iowa’s supporting cast around Clark and Martin. The Hawkeyes haven’t needed much else against a Michigan group shooting just 3-of-19 from deep.

Clark seems determined to make more history, staying aggressive to break her single-game career-high points mark despite her team’s big lead.
She needs just five more points to break it (46).

Clark threaded the needle just before the buzzer, notching another double-double. She now has 38 points and 10 assists, just eight points from her career high.
It seemed like Iowa’s high-paced offense and 3-point shooting wore down Michigan that frame, winning the quarter 29-18.
Energy in the building is at an all-time high, and the Hawkeyes are using it as fuel.

Michigan came out of the timeout in a box-and-1 defense on Clark, but she made a terrific give-and-go play to convert an easy layup.
Still, she’s been short on her last few jump shot attempts after beginning the game on a torrid pace.

Michigan has gotten the benefit of the whistle to begin the second half, which has slowed the game down and helped the Wolverines keep pace with Iowa’s high-octane offense.
The Hawkeyes could use some help from their bench tonight, which has just two points (Sydney Affolter).

There was no post-adrenaline crash for the Hawkeyes to begin the third quarter as Molly Davis swished a triple right away.
Clark followed her with another triple, giving her 31 points for the game, but Hannah Stuelke soon picked up her second foul and was sent to the bench.

Michigan won’t go quietly into the night, seemingly matching the Hawkeyes every time down the floor.
Wolverines down just five, 46-41 with just under three minutes remaining in the opening half.

It was only right Clark became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer for women’s basketball inside the building she’s turned into a madhouse, a jam-packed Carver-Hawkeye Arena loaded with Iowans marveling at their own.

End of first: Iowa 33, Michigan 22
Caitlin Clark rightfully had all the buzz in that quarter. She’s got 23 points through the first 10 minutes of action. If she keeps this pace up she’ll fall just short of 100 points on the night.
Obviously, we’re not expecting her to score at that high of a clip. But if anybody can…. it would be her.
Caitlin Clark didn’t stop at just the record
The West Des Moines native needed eight points to break the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record. She got it quick and didn’t stop going.
She’s now up to 21 of Iowa’s 30 points on the night and has hit five of her six tries from long range.
Clark is outscoring the Wolverines on her own. The Hawkeyes led 30-20 late in the first quarter.
