Ricki Lake says she didn’t use Ozempic to lose at least 30 pounds during perimenopause.

“On October 26, 2023 I made a commitment to myself to be healthier. “My husband, Ross (Burningham) joined me in this endeavor,” the star, 55, captioned. a carousel of Instagram photos from Saturday.

In one slide, she is seen flaunting her abs in a black sports bra and matching leggings in a mirror selfie. In others, she and Burningham are seen enjoying the outdoors, including her now daily walks.

“Together we have each lost over 30 pounds,” he continued, emphasizing that the couple did not employ weight loss medications to aid in this feat.

“I really want to share it, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical product. (Not that there is anything wrong with that).”

Ozempic, an FDA-approved prescription medication, is one of the brands of semaglutide, also known as Wegovy, which affects the brain to maintain satiety and suppress appetite.

The popular drug is intended for patients with type 2 diabetes, but is used by many people, including a growing list of celebrities, to lose weight.

“Neither of us were prediabetic and we both felt like we wanted to at least try to do it on our own,” Lake said of her approach to losing weight.

The former talk show host admitted she was “a little worried” she wouldn’t be able to lose weight as she had in the past due to perimenopause, the transition period before menopause when a woman’s ovaries gradually begin to to produce less estrogen.

But Lake’s hard work paid off despite the physical changes.

“I am very proud of us. I feel incredible. “I feel strong,” she wrote, adding that she will reveal more details about “what exactly I did” in a future post.

“But suffice it to say, this is the healthiest way I’ve ever lost weight in all my years,” the “Hairspray” actress praised, while revealing that she went from 165 pounds to 140 pounds in the span of four months .
