Robert Irwin and his girlfriend Rorie Buckey have broken up after two years of dating.
Robert, the 20-year-old son of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, made the announcement Friday in a joint statement with Buckey, 19, who shared the message via his Instagram Story.
“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways, but we deeply appreciate all the time we spent together and wish each other the best for the future,” the statement read.
“We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for each other as we continue our journeys down different paths,” the couple explained.
Robert and his now-ex emphasized that they will not “make any further comments” on the nature of their breakup, but added that they “truly appreciate” the “respect” of their followers while prioritizing their “privacy at this time.”

While the young duo was rumored to be dating in 2022, they went Instagram official in August 2023.
Robert and Buckey, who made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Sydney premiere of “Mission: Impossible 7” in July 2023, have gone through a long-distance romance, as he lives in Queensland, Australia, while she resides in Perth.
What the couple had in common was suffering the loss of a loved one in front of the public.
Robert was just 3 years old when his father, Steve, died aged 44 in September 2006 after suffering a fatal injury from a stingray.
Buckey, meanwhile, is the niece of the late Australian actor Heath Ledger, who tragically died in January 2008 aged 28 following a drug overdose.
Although they are no longer together, Robert’s older sister, Bindi Irwin, made no secret that she was a big fan of Buckey.
The 25-year-old mom, who shares daughter Grace, 2, with husband Chandler Powell, praised Robert’s former flame on a touching Instagram post from October 2023.
“Sweetest soul, beautiful friend, I love her so much,” Bindi wrote, adding that her little one was also an avid fan.
“Usually you’ll see Grace following her around because she adores her.”
