Haleon has issued a voluntary recall of two Robitussin cough medications due to microbial contamination.

Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult are the cough syrups that are being recalled, the the company said Wednesday.

The company said it has not received any reports of “adverse events” related to the recall so far.

The company warned that use of the affected product could cause serious or life-threatening adverse events, such as fungemia, that is, the presence of fungi or yeast in the blood, or disseminated fungal infection in immunocompromised people.

However, in non-immunocompromised consumers, life-threatening infections are not likely to occur.

The company is directly notifying its distributors and customers to return the recalled products. Those who purchased the products listed in the recall should return them.

The recall of eight lots of the drug is being done with the knowledge of the US Food and Drug Administration.
