NEW DELHI: For cricketer Amir Hussain Lone He made headlines last month when his videos while batting went viral on social media.
Amir had lost both arms in an accident when he was seven years old. But the 34-year-old Kashmiri Anantnag received praise from none other than Sachin Tendulkar for his courage, determination and love for the game of cricket.
After learning about Amir’s incredible feats on the field, which include bowling with his feet and batting with the bat between his shoulder and neck, tendulkar had posted last month: “I hope to meet him one day and get a t-shirt with his name on it. Congratulations for inspiring millions of people who are passionate about practicing this sport.”

And Tendulkar, currently vacationing in Kashmir, kept his promise to meet Amir.
The batting legend shared a video on X that shows him visiting Amir’s house, talking to him and his family:

The story of courage and determination began the day Amir lost his arms in the accident that occurred at the family sawmill in 1997 in Waghama village in Bijbehara of Anantnag.
His determination and love for cricket helped him grow in three years after his parents and an army unit in the village provided him with timely treatment.
Another pillar of support was his grandmother, who he says encouraged him to return to school after a three-year hiatus. She passed away a few years ago.
Amir has been playing since 2013 after a teacher discovered his talent and introduced him to the local paracricket team.
In due course, the Anantnag prodigy made international innings, with appearances in Nepal, Dubai and, most recently, Sharjah for a UAE para-league.
Tendulkar is not the only icon who has taken note of Amir, who is currently the captain of the J&K paracricket team.
Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra I had invited him to watch the semi-final of the 2016 T20 World Cup in Mumbai.
