‘Scream VII’ returns to normal with the return of Neve Campbell

In a dramatic turn of events, Neve Campbell returns to the world of Shout, the latest twist for a franchise that just a few months ago seemed to be on the ropes. Campbell’s return is particularly notable, since he did not participate Scream VI over a salary dispute with producer Spyglass.

Campbell announced on Instagram that, in addition to his return, the godfather of the franchise, Kevin Williamson, will direct. Williamson is the creator of the franchise and wrote the script for the original Wes Craven film, as well as Scream 2 and Shout 4. Guy Busick, who wrote 2022 Shout and Scream VIwill take over writing duties from James Vanderbilt, who is busy directing the film. Nuremberg.

The seventh installment of Shout has faced multiple setbacks, including the loss of star Jenna Ortega, the high-profile firing of star Melissa Barrera, and the departure of director Christopher Landon.

The addition of Campbell adds new life to the film, as his character Sidney Prescott has been the heart of the series since the first installment. In 2022, when she announced that talks had failed over her salaries, she said in a statement: “As a woman, I have had to work very hard in my career to establish my worth, especially when it comes to Shout. “I felt that the offer they presented to me did not equal the value I had brought to the franchise.”

Film trio Radio Silence revitalized the franchise with 2022 Shout, which featured Campbell. 14 months later released Scream VIwhich broke the series record for biggest opening weekend with an opening of $44.5 million. Scream VI star-strewn Shout survivors Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega, along with returning franchise stars Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox. Radio Silence will executive produce this film, with producers including Vanderbilt and along with their Project X Entertainment partners William Sherak and Paul Neinstein.

The late filmmaker Wes Craven directed the first four. Shout feature films, the first debuting in 1996 and skewering some of the same horror genre tropes that Craven helped introduce during his storied career. The fifth installment of 2022 picked up the baton as the first Shout film since Craven’s death in 2015 and proving that it could thrive for a new generation of viewers.

Williamson, who directed the 1999 film. Teaching Mrs. Tingle, is represented by CAA and Felker Toczek. Busick, who co-wrote Radio Silence’s upcoming horror film Abigail, is repped by Gotham Group, A3 Artists Agency and Jackoway Austen. Campbell is represented by Gersh, Anonymous Content and Johnson Shapiro attorneys.
