Selma Blair is trying to dramatically backtrack on her anger-filled speech against Islam that she admitted a week ago.

Although in the United States everyone seems to be allowed to apologize enough, it’s hard to know whether an apology will be enough for many right now. While several commenters on Blair’s post offered support for the actress or attacked Islam, others criticized what one bluntly called “the fake apology and the tears.”
Over the past week, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and others have denounced Blair’s previous comments as blatantly Islamophobic.
Certainly, Blair’s quickly deleted comment in a February 2 post on an IG profile by one Abraham Hamra about Israel’s military response to the savage attack on the Jewish state on October 7 and Rep. Cori Bush’s stance (D-MO) and Rep. Rashida Talib (D-Mich.) lacked much subtlety about the ongoing war.
CAA representative Blair wrote: “Thank you very much. Deport all these thugs who support terrorism. Islam has destroyed the Muslim countries and then they come here and destroy the minds. They know they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they find their destiny.”
Blair, now 51, was born of mixed religious ancestry and officially converted to Judism in the second grade.
Just days before Hamas’ murderous attack on Israeli border communities and military camps that left more than 1,400 dead, hundreds of women raped and hundreds taken hostage, Blair was at the White House at the invitation of President Joe Biden. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, the actress joined the president at a ceremony celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act.
More recently, Blair appeared on the cover of British magazine Fashion with Oprah, Jane Fonda, Naomi Campbell, Miley Cyrus, Serena Williams, Kate Moss and 33 other well-known women in a group photographed by photographer Steven Meisel. The star-studded cover was partly to celebrate the magazine’s final edition which will be edited by Edward Enninful after six years as editor-in-chief. Blair appeared solo on the cover of the UK fashion magazine in May last year.
