‘I don’t want to lose the actor in me’
While promoting his upcoming film with Kriti Sanon, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Shahid was asked about the statement Hrithik recently made about stardom. Shahid replied: “I can understand why he says that, I understand it. I have the opposite problem, I don’t want to lose the actor inside me, that’s why sometimes I sacrifice stardom. I’m on the other side of the fence. Your journey is very different from mine. Look at Leonardo Di Caprio, Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar, there is definitely stardom with heavy acting jobs. “I grew up watching that and I aspire to that.”
‘Being a star is a gift and a burden’
Hrithik had told him Film Companion recently said that being a star is “unhealthy” in many ways. He said: “I would come back as an actor if I didn’t have the burden of being a star. Stardom is a gift, it’s a responsibility, it fills the bank, I’m willing to use it well. Do not misunderstand. It’s adrenaline, it’s pressure, a lot of it. There have been many times when I have not been able to make a film because I have to maintain the star factor. It’s one of the things that distracts me the most as an actor. I prefer to spend on emotions than focus on the outside. I look forward to the time when the pressure is no longer there. In movies like Fighter and War, there is no way to escape.”
