The event’s official website states National Puppy Day is designed to celebrate “the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives.” It also is a day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills.
It was founded in 2006 by celebrity pet and home lifestyle expert and author Colleen Paige, who also founded National Dog Day, National Mutt Day and others.
