Siddharth Anand seems to have studied the possible reasons behind Fighter’s low box office collections, check out his two reasons!
The fighter is growing and shining in overseas markets, but the response has been lukewarm in India. High expectations were met in this Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-led Republic Day release. Siddharth Anand is fresh off the success of Pathaan (2023). The film, which marked Shah Rukh Khan’s return to Bollywood, grossed a whopping 543.22 crores in India and got a successful verdict at the box office. She had previously achieved another hit with Hrithik Roshan, War, which picked up 319 crores in the domestic market. The premiere should have been a box office success, but the promotional strategies were weak.
Siddharth Anand cites two reasons behind Fighter’s boring response
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Siddharth Anand listed two reasons behind Fighter’s lukewarm response. According to him, a big mistake was releasing the action film on a weekday. The filmmaker confessed that his expectations were a little “unrealistic.”
Siddharth Anand also noted that the genre may not have been identifiable to the audience. However, he did note that Fighter is a “huge leap for a filmmaker.
Director Siddharth Anand calls Fighter a “basic film”
He concluded: “There is a huge percentage of our country, I would say, 90 percent, that hasn’t flown on airplanes, that hasn’t been in an airport, so how would they know what’s happening in the movie? This is my dissection. They felt that this is a bit strange. They didn’t understand what kind of euphoria they were supposed to feel in the aerial action, so there is a bit of an initial disconnect. But once you enter the theater, you realize that it is a very basic movie.”

Fighter released on January 25, 2024. The film stars a stellar cast, including Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Kapoor, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Karan Singh Grover and Ashutosh Rana, among others.
It is backed by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures.
The action film marks Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand’s third collaboration after Bang Bang and War. They will soon team up again for War 2.
Deepika Padukone also met the filmmaker after the huge success of Pathaan.
