Speaking to The Times of India, Siddharth Anand said, β€œThere are two points about it. First, this film is in complete conjunction with the IAF. The IAF has been a co-collaborator on the film and has been a great associate partner in our film. This film has gone through meticulous procedures with the IAF, from script submission to production planning, watching the film before the censor saw it at the censor board, watching it again at the IAF, reviewing the film after the censorship. and then giving us a physical copy of the NOC No Objection Certificate. After that, we got the certificate. We got the censorship certificate. We then showed the entire film to all members of the Air Force, including the Chief of the Air Force, Mr. Chaudhary, and over 100 air marshals across the country. We called them and arranged a screening for them a day before the film’s release in Delhi, and they gave us a standing ovation.”

The director further added that the said person who registered the complaint is not associated with the IAF and has no idea who is doing this. “We have checked with the team concerned and they have informed us that no such person exists under the IAF. So we have no idea who is doing this. We are in a business where there will be social commentary. So we are totally used to it,” he said.

Last week, an Indian television report said an Indian Air Force officer, Wing Commander Saumya Deep Das, had given a legal notice. The notice noted that the film normalizes inappropriate behavior in uniform and criticized the kissing scene in which the lead actors were seen in uniform, on a catwalk.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter also stars Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi. The film released on January 25 and is doing well at the box office.
