Released in theaters on January 25, on the eve of Republic Day, ‘Fighter‘ failed to achieve significant opening numbers despite the initial hype surrounding the film. Despite having a formidable cast of stars that includes Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshanand directed by the experienced filmmaker Siddharth Anandknown for his hits like ‘Guerra’ and ‘Pathan,’ the film is dealing with a disappointing box office performance.A film producer and industry expert recently provided insight into the reasons behind the film’s moderate reception.
He said: “The movie ‘Fighter’ faced a notable rise and sudden decline in box office figures, and several factors contributed to this result. Firstly, the marketing and promotion campaigns were sophisticated but lacked a connection with the masses. “The film’s theme of aerial action adventure also made it less identifiable to a broader audience.”

Elaborating further, he added: “Despite normal visibility and routine rumours, the opening day collection of around Rs 22 crore was below expectations. The Rs 50 crore targeted on Friday only reached Rs 39 crore. rupees, marking the peak. However, the following days witnessed a significant drop, with Sunday’s collection at around Rs 29 crore, showing a decline of Rs 10 crore from Republic Day. Monday marked the biggest drop with 8 million rupees, followed by 7 million rupees on Tuesday. The rest of the days of the week returned below-average figures, raising the total for the week to approximately 134 million rupees after of an initial weekend of approximately Rs 118 million in four days.

He continued, “The film’s poor performance can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the marketing lacked focus and secondly, the film’s highly technical subject matter and lack of emotional connection made it peripheral and dry. The absence of a strong and well-known antagonist, especially given Hrithik Roshan’s stardom, further weakened the film.”

“Director Siddharth Anand’s statement that the film poor performance

because most Indians don’t fly on airplanes, which adds to the disconnection with the masses. Additionally, the music received criticism. The film’s prospects of reaching Rs 150 crore now look uncertain. “Despite having a budget of around Rs 250 crore, the film, which is expected to be the first blockbuster of the year, is facing a sorry state,” said the trade expert he concluded.
Apart from Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, ‘Fighter’ also featured Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Akshay Oberoi and others in key roles.
