A terrifying video of an Indonesian footballer struck by lightning has shocked the sports world. According to reports in international media, footballer named Septain Raharja, from Subang, collapsed following the incident during a friendly match at the Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday. The game was underway when the incident occurred. The footballer was breathing after being struck by lightning and was rushed to a local hospital, but he died shortly after, according to Indonesia’s PRFM News.
The video, which captures the exact moment Septin Raharja, 35, was struck by lightning, has gone viral. According standard.esSepttain Raharja, was competing in a friendly football match between 2 FLO FC Bandung and FBI Subang, when lightning struck him around 4:20 pm local time on Saturday.
After the incident, several Indonesian teams observed a moment of silence in memory of the bereaved.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time that a footballer in Indonesia has been struck by lightning mid-match in recent times. In 2023, a young man from Bojonegoro, East Java, was struck by lightning during the U-13 Soeratin Cup.
He suffered cardiac arrest and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment. The boy was resuscitated and regained consciousness after 20 minutes.
The football field has witnessed shocking incidents in which players have died on the field of play. More recently, an Ivory Coast footballer died in March 2023 after collapsing on the field during a match.
