Sofía Vergara has been criticized for her portrayal of Griselda Blanco by the son of the late Colombian drug trafficker.
The Colombian actress, 51, plays the drug lord in the Netflix series “Griselda” and is almost unrecognizable in the role.
But according to Blanco’s son, Michael Corleone Blanco, the “Modern Family” alum’s portrayal of his late mother is nothing short of “disrespectful.”
“Sofía Vergara did not consult with any member of the Blanco family as a sign of respect or to obtain family details when portraying my mother,” said Blanco, 45. told Fox News.
“When I found out about the ‘Griselda’ project, my team approached the Sofia camp and offered my consulting services.”
He claimed that Vergara, who serves as the show’s executive producer, and her team told him there was “no room in the project” to consult with him or any other members of his family.
“Sofía’s camp and the Netflix creators were disrespectful and ultimately produced the ‘Griselda’ project themselves for commercial gain, without key details from the Blanco family,” he told the outlet.
“After the meeting, my lawyers formally sent a cease and desist letter to Netflix and Sofia’s camp. To this day, neither Netflix nor Sofia’s side have made any attempt to reconcile.”
“Regardless of public information, basic respect is warranted,” he continued. “I am the only living child of Griselda who has life rights agreements signed by Griselda herself in which she intended for me to carry out the story of her life.”
“I am a businessman in the entertainment industry and I understand the importance of movies because I have a book to publish, based on a true story,” he added.
Blanco ran her drug operation from Miami from the 1970s to the early 2000s. She was nicknamed the “Queen of Cocaine” and “The Godmother” and was feared for her business tactics.
Blanco was arrested in 1985 and charged with conspiring to manufacture, import and distribute cocaine. After being sentenced to 15 years behind bars, she was released from prison in 2004.
She was killed in a drive-by shooting on a motorcycle in Medellín, Colombia, in 2012, when she was 69 years old.
Elsewhere, Miguel he told the daily mail that he didn’t like Vergara’s appearance when she transformed into his late mother.
“My mother was a beautiful woman and it’s crazy that a lot of people say ‘No, you have to look more like a drug addict.’ The fact that they call her ‘ugly’ that really offends me,” she told the outlet.
“People see mugshots and just walk away from them. But when you read my book, you will see that my mother was called the porcelain doll in her youth.”
Vergara recently revealed that she spent at least three hours doing her hair and makeup to transform into Blanco.
Michael’s harsh comments come after he sensationally sued Vergara and Netflix over the new series. TMZ reported.
Michael is vying for a judge to grant an injunction preventing the release of the six-part series, which is set to premiere Jan. 25 on the streaming platform.
He and his brothers allege that the series ripped out their family’s history to incorporate it into the plot of “Griselda” and that their images and portraits were used in the series without their permission, violating their rights.
The Post reached out to Vergara’s representatives, while Netflix declined to comment.
