SpongeBob to ‘host’ Sweet Victory to kick off Nickelodeon’s Super Bowl broadcast

Get ready for a dose of nostalgia as SpongeBob and his friend prepare to “perform” their song Sweet Victory during Super Bowl LVIII.

Announced in the CBS Sports X/Twitter Account, those tuning into Nickelodeon to watch Super Bowl LVIII will be able to enjoy a performance of Sweet Victory before kickoff. The performance will be animated in CGI, as shown in the CBS Sports excerpt.

For those unfamiliar with this amazing performance, Sweet Victory was a song that appeared in the SpongeBob SquarePants season 2 episode called “Band Geeks.” In the episode, SpongeBob and other members of Bikini Bottom join a gang led by Squidward; The episode ends with band playing during the fictional Bubble Bowl.

For years, SpongeBob SquarePants fans have requested that Sweet Victory perform during a Super Bowl. Following the death of SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg, A petition was created on Change.org. to play the song during Super Bowl LIII in honor of Hillenburg. While the song was not played, it was received. a tribute during the halftime show.

Super Bowl LVIII will air on February 11 between the AFC and the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the NFC champions, the San Francisco 49ers.
