Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford were as advertised in north London on Wednesday, as Spurs held out until the final whistle to claim a 3-2 victory over the Bees.
Brentford led through Neal Maupay at half-time but conceded three goals in a row within 11 minutes of the restart as Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison put Spurs ahead. But Ivan Toney scored late and Tottenham needed some heroics from Guglielmo Vicario to keep the three points in the home corner.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham are still without captain Heung-min Son, whose South Korean side are making waves in the AFC Asian Cup, but James Maddison returned to the fold and Tottenham took advantage of Tuesday’s defeat by Villa to finish the day in the top four first.

As for Brentford, Thomas Frank can again thank Toney, who was part of both goals. But the Bees are struggling at the back and are just four points off the bottom three after their 11th defeat of the Premier League season.
