Star Wars: The Acolyte Release Date and First Poster Revealed, First Trailer Coming Tomorrow

Star Wars: The Acolyte will arrive on Disney+ on June 4, 2024 and its first trailer will be released tomorrow, March 19.

The big Star Wars news was shared on StarWars.com next to a sinister new sign that reads: “In an age of light, darkness arises.”

The Acolyte is set in the High Republic era of the Star Wars timeline, which is considered the “finest era of the Jedi Order.” However, not everything is perfect.

“In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces are revealed. Not everything is as it seems,” reads the official description.

Joining Stenberg and Jung-jae in Star Wars: The Acolyte are Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Russian Doll’s Leslye Headland serves as the show’s creator and showrunner and will executive produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are co-executive producers and Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producers.

We don’t know much about this series yet, but Stenberg shared that the show was developed with her in mind.

“The whole artwork was conceptualized with my face, and Leslye said, ‘I’ve been working on this for about three or four years for you. I don’t know what I’m going to do if you don’t do it. No pressure,'” Stenberg said. “So of course they sent me to the moon.”

It was also confirmed that The Acolyte will have more Jedi than any other movie or show and that it is “Frozen meets Kill Bill.”
