Sydney Sweeney shares her grandmothers’ reaction to ‘Immaculata’

talk about one hell What a surprise: Sydney Sweeney brought her grandmothers to the Los Angeles premiere of her wild new nun horror movie Immaculate…but he forgot to tell you how wild the movie gets.


The star, who also produced the film, made sure her Nana and Grandy, who appeared as nuns in the film, were present at the screening so they could see their reactions up close and personal.


“I sat next to them,” Sweeney says. Entertainment Weekly. “I was very nervous to see what they were going to think. I had some (reactions) from my grandfather leaning forward looking at me and saying, ‘Oh Lord, Sydney‘” he says, laughing with joy.

Immaculate It follows Sweeney’s Cecilia, an American nun looking for a change of pace and joining an illustrious Italian convent. Once there, she somehow becomes pregnant, but when she discovers the horrible truth of the convent and her supposed miraculous pregnancy, she must do whatever it takes to escape it. That’s where things get very bloody… and very uncomfortable for poor Sweeney’s Grandy.


“Definitely, during the third act, the killing spree that I went on made her very bad,” the star says.


As for her grandmothers’ cameos, Sweeney says that “a fun little Easter egg” is that her Nana is actually a pro, having appeared in every project Sweeney did with director Michael Mohan: series 2018. everything sucks2021 movie The voyeursand now, Immaculate.


However, this time both grandmothers joined in on the on-screen fun thanks to a very special trip to Italy. “My Nana and my grandfather’s dream was to go to Italy, to Europe. They had never traveled outside the country like that,” explains Sweeney. “So for Christmas, I surprised them with little nun habits and little Italian bells, and told them if they played, then they had to go to Italy.”

And ring the bells they made. Sweeney says he flew them to Italy, where they stayed for just over a week and explored Rome. “Then I brought them on set and they got to be extras in the church scenes and they got to watch me work,” she says, adding, “And I get to cement that memory in the movie forever so I can live it.” Look at it, it’s amazing.”
