Tarek El Moussa is opening up about the shocking gun incident that led to his divorce from Christina Hall.

HGTV stars El Moussa, 42, and Christina Hall (née Haack), 40, were married from 2009 to 2018 and hosted their hit show “Flip or Flop” together (and even co-hosted after their divorce). until it ended in 2022.

In his new memoir, published on February 6, “Turn Your Life Around: How to Find Opportunity in Difficult Situations – in Real Estate, Business, and Life” reveals what really happened during the 2016 incident with Hall that involved a gun.

“A police officer leaning out of the helicopter pointed a rifle at me. Dust swirled around me from the spinning of the blades, and a loudspeaker screeched: ‘Put your hands up in the air!’” he said.

“I heard an officer yell, ‘Tarek?’” he explained. “I yelled, ‘Yes! I’m the TV guy! What are you guys doing?'”

For the next few hours, I sat in a cooler in the driveway, handcuffed. That was the last time we were together as a family, and it was with Christina walking down the driveway, crying, and me sitting there, handcuffed, wondering: What’s going on?”

Together, El Moussa and Hall have daughter Taylor and son Braydennow 13 and 8.

He weeks after this incident They were “physical and emotional hell.” In his book, he said that he hid on his boat, drank himself unconscious, and suffered withdrawal from the testosterone he had been taking, until his friends sent him to rehab.

“Everyone gave up on me: the magazines, the media, the network, no one believed in me,” he said.

He recalled that he discovered that reuniting with Hall “wasn’t in the cards” when he learned that she had moved on with her second husband, British TV presenter Ant Anstead, whom she began dating in 2017.

They married the following year and had a son in 2019 (the two have since divorced in 2021 and she is now married to real estate agent Joshua Hall).

“I would say what a devastating understatement it would be,” El Moussa wrote, realizing that Hall had moved on.

But now, years after the gun incident, he says: “I have nothing against Christina. I understand why she did what she did. We had many difficult years due to my illnesses and my mental health problems due to testosterone.”

He married his second wife, “Selling Sunset” star Heather Rae Young, in 2021 before welcoming her. his son in 2023. “We all communicate well,” referring to his ex-wife and current wife.
