Swifties can once again find information related to Taylor Swift on X, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, after the social network momentarily restricted searches for the American singer following outrage over its explicit AI images.
The social networking site, formerly known as Twitter., restricted searches for Taylor Swift (34) as a temporary measure to address a flood of AI-generated deepfake images that went viral on X, as well as other social media platforms.
“Search has been re-enabled and we will continue to monitor any attempts to spread this content and will remove it if we find it,” Joe Benarroch, head of business operations at X, said in a statement, according to The Colina.
Previously, when X users tried to search for their name, they received an error notice.
Swift has become the focus of people sharing sexually graphic photos generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The issue has alarmed U.S. lawmakers and others who have struggled to control burgeoning artificial intelligence technologies and the potential consequences ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
Before X authorities intervened over the weekend, fans of the 12-time Grammy winner attempted to drown out the images using the hashtag #ProtectTaylorSwift and authentic photos of her.
As of Tuesday morning, searching for “Taylor Swift AI” still shows an error message in X.

Democratic Rep. Yvette D. Clarke used a similar social media platform to emphasize that women have been victims of AI for years, adding that the creation of deepfakes has become more accessible and affordable with technological advances.

In a previous statement, X mentioned that it is actively removing the images and taking appropriate action against the accounts responsible for spreading them. “We are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that any further violations are addressed immediately and the content is removed,” she said.
While Swift has not spoken publicly about the fake images, a report from the Daily Mail claimed that her team is “considering legal action” against the site that posted the AI-generated images.

Swift is “furious” about the disgusting violation of her privacy and dignity, according to the report.
