Base, Skydance TV’s Apple TV+ series, is making more changes before resuming production on its upcoming third season following a delay due to budget/physical production issues. As reported by Deadline, filming is scheduled to begin on March 6 in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and in four Polish cities, the capital Warsaw, as well as Krakow, Lublin and Katowice.

Laurie Borg, who worked as line producer and co-executive producer on season 2 and the already completed portion of season 3, is leaving. Doug Moreno, who had been credited as production controller in season 3, will take on the role of line producer.

Besides, Base Executive producer Bill Bost will move to Prague for the duration of principal photography. Bost oversaw the launch of Base as president of Skydance Television and before that, series development as senior vice president of television. He remained an executive producer on the show after stepping down as president of television in November 2022, and later signed a production deal with the independent studio.

As Deadline reported, Base Co-developer/executive producer/showrunner David S. Goyer will continue to write and produce the series from Los Angeles. He is believed to have provided directing services during the previous production of season 3, but will not direct any further episodes of season 3 as previously planned. His replacements as director are still being finalized.

Base filmed for several weeks in spring 2023 before closing due to strike. About half of the third season is in the can, sources said.

As Deadline previously reported, Season 3’s production restart, originally scheduled for February, was postponed earlier this month, with budget and physical production issues causing the delay. Cast and crew who had already assembled for filming were told to return home while the issues were resolved.

That process was completed and the budget was reduced.

Based on Isaac Asimov’s trilogy, the series follows the saga of The Foundation, a group of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. Follow the stories of four pivotal individuals who transcend space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties, and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.

Jared Harris and Lee Pace lead the cast of Basewhich also stars Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels and Dimitri Leonidas.

Base is produced for Apple by Skydance Television. Goyer, Alex Graves, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bost and Robin Asimov are executive producers.
