A woman of a certain age will have her moment in prime time this fall.
ABC has given the green light to “The Golden Bachelorette,” a woman-starring spinoff of the landmark senior dating show.The golden bachelor”, which aired last year.
ABC announced news of the spinoff Saturday at the Television Critics Association conference in Pasadena, California, where the network unveiled a slate of upcoming shows.
“The Golden Bachelorette” comes after “The Golden Bachelor,” a reality dating show centered on Gerry Turner, a 72-year-old grandfather who got a second chance at love on national television. His season ended with a happy ending when Turner became engaged to contestant Theresa Nist. The couple had a television wedding and their nuptials were broadcast live on ABC. at the beginning of this year.
The star of “The Golden Bachelorette” has not yet been revealed. According to a press release from ABC, additional details about the series and cast will be announced later.

“The Golden Bachelorette” is the world’s latest spin-off of “The Bachelor.” The franchise, which first debuted in 2002 with the flagship “Bachelor,” has aired more than 60 seasons of television with spinoffs including “Bachelorette,” “Bachelor Pad” and “Bachelor in Paradise.” ABC is currently airing its 28th season of “The Bachelor” with lead Joey Graziadei.
On Saturday, ABC also announced the renewal of season 21 of “The Bachelorette,” which will air this summer.
