‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ becomes the titan of the box office

On Friday, moviegoers turned out in force for the monster mash-up “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which took a a whopping 37 million dollars during its first week in theaters, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.

The big-budget beastly buddy movie directed by Rebecca Hall, which The Post said has “a brain-busting plot,” opened in 3,861 theaters and follows “Godzilla vs. Kong” of 2021.
