‘The Simpsons’ Predicted Disastrous ‘Willy Wonka Experience’ 31 Years Ago, Fans Say: ‘Holy Shit’

strange but true

“The Simpsons” may have falsely predicted this epic event.

“Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Experience” has been mercilessly mocked after it failed to deliver on its promise to delight children with a recreation of Roald Dahl’s fictional candy factory.

Photos of the soirée in Glasgow, Scotland, which cost attendees $45 per person, have gone viral online, with onlookers left stunned by the warehouse’s depressing atmosphere, paltry props and unenthusiastic employees dressed as Oompa Loompas.

As children cried and furious parents demanded refunds, some social media pundits proclaimed that “The Simpsons” predicted the fiasco from the beginning.

The Matt Groening-created comedy, which has been hailed as the “world’s most prophetic cartoon,” featured a 1993 episode that featured an eerily similar plot.

“The crazy thing is, ironically, Homerland looks 10 times better,” said one X user while comparing “Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Experience” to its “Simpsons” counterpart. FOX

In the fateful episode, titled “Bart’s Inner Child,” Homer Simpson purchases a trampoline that he plans to use at a backyard children’s theme park.

While fantasy never comes true, The Simpsons patriarch does dream of a “Homerland,” in which guests pay $50 to ride the small trampoline, a play on a fort made of dirty mattresses.

When Bart’s friend Milhouse claims that this latest attraction “smells funny,” a deluded Homer responds “no, it doesn’t.”

But the similarities with the “Simpsons” don’t end there.

In another episode from 2002, Homer encounters a sad, smoking Oompa-Loompa who looks a lot like his cosplayer counterpart at the failed “Wonka” party.

On X, experts pointed out the similarities, with one commenting, “Holy crap, ‘The Simpsons’ did it AGAIN!”

Others said “Homeland” still seemed preferable to Wonka’s event in Scotland.

“It’s still more fun than the Willy Wonka experience” a user X commented.

another wrote: “The crazy thing is, ironically, Homerland looks 10 times better.”

Unfortunately, it wasn’t just visitors and the curious on the internet who were dismayed by the poor quality of the Scottish event.

Actor Paul Connell, who played the role of Wonka in “Willy’s Chocolate Experience,” spoke out, describing it as “an absolute disaster.”

The Scotsman said the first “red flag” came when he was cast as the titular chocolatier and not Oompa Loompa, a role he felt he was better suited for.

“Anyone who looks at me and thinks Willy Wonka and not Oompa Loompa is crazy,” he joked.

Connell ultimately called the event one of the “most disgraceful things” he had ever seen, adding that “it was disrespectful to the families and to us as up-and-coming actors.”

“I really hope everyone gets the refund they deserve,” he declared.

The House of Illuminati, which organized the event, has since apologized for the fiasco on its Facebook page.

Willy Wonka’s calamity is just one of the many “Simpsons” predictions. The clairvoyant cartoon was previously credited with guessing everything from the Titanic submarine disaster to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
