Drea de Matteo He says he only had $10 in his bank account when he started posting on Onlyfans last August.
In five minutes, the actress, best known for playing Adriana La Cerva in The sopranosHe was able to pay off his mortgage.
Mateo, 52 years old, said to daily mail in an interview published on Tuesday, February 27, that she is glad she joined the adult site even though she initially resisted the idea.
“OnlyFans 100 percent saved my life,” he said. “I can’t believe I’m saying that, but he really saved us.”
The actress’s decision to join Onlyfans came at a time of particular financial difficulty. After previously revealing that her refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine left her without job opportunities, de Matteo faced expenses related to caring for her sick mother, raising two children, and dealing with a flood in home.
“I was like, ‘Holy shit.’ In five minutes, I was able to pay Compass Real Estate, who took over the sale of my house,” she said of those first moments on Onlyfans. “I did it, but I didn’t want to do it. “I got a lot of criticism for doing it and it went fucking viral and people went crazy.”
She says the account even gave her enough income to start her streetwear brand, ULTRAFREE, which was inspired by her 12-year-old son, Waylon. (De Matteo shares Waylon and his 16-year-old daughter Alabama with her ex-fiancé Shooter Jennings.)
Although De Matteo liked the idea of posting racy photos on the site, it wasn’t the original plan. At first, she was thinking about starting a “controversial” Onlyfans podcast with her husband. Robby Staebler.
“That was what it was going to be originally,” he explained. “Like when he rubs my feet because you have to add something for Onlyfans in there.”
However, it turned out that he found the photos empowering. She livestreams the photoshoots, so even if the final versions are “touched up here and there,” fans can still see the authenticity behind them.
Although she admits the photos don’t look as good if she’s too skinny, she says it allows her more freedom in her pre-shoot diet and she enjoys the end result.
“It feels good to see those photos,” he said, adding, “We’re just carb-loading. “I’m just an Italian lady in the world, eating spaghetti, pasta and steak.”
However, de Matteo knows that his opinions on OnlyFans won’t necessarily coincide with those of others. He is fine with the decisions he has made.
“Anyone who wants to condemn and belittle me, let them do so. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in of taking care of two young children,” she said.
