India captain Rohit Sharma was in no mood to dodge bouncers when he attended the press conference on the eve of the fifth Test against England in Dharamsala. Rohit, when asked about England batsman Ben Duckett’s comment about the visiting team taking credit for Yashasvi Jaiswal’s attacking heroics, he sent a firm ‘Rishabh Pant reminder’ to everyone. Scoring six hits in Wednesday’s press conference, Rohit did not hesitate to suggest to the England team, especially Ben Duckett, that they had probably not seen Rishabh Pant bat, hence the comment being made.
“There was a guy called Rishabh Pant in our team, Ben Duckett probably hasn’t seen him play,” Rohit said when asked about the comment made by the England batsman.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as India’s highest scoring batsman in the series, scoring 655 runs in 4 matches so far at an average of 94.57 and a strike rate of 78.63. Watching India’s young batsman negotiate boundaries during the Rajkot Test, Duckett suggested that the England team’s ‘Bazball’ style of play should be given credit for encouraging Jaiswal to play like he has done in the series so far. .
“When you see opposition players playing like that, it almost seems like we should take credit that they are playing differently to how other people play Test cricket,” Duckett had said.

It’s not just Rohit who found Duckett’s comment deplorable. Earlier, even former England captain Nasser Hussain had criticized the player for his comments.
“He didn’t learn from you. He learned from your upbringing, from all the efforts he had to make growing up. If anything, guys, watch him and learn from him. I hope there’s a little self-introspection going on. “Otherwise, it becomes a cult, and sometimes Bazball and this regime have been described as such, where you cannot criticize inside or outside,” Hussain had said on Sky Sports.
