Three clubs considering hiring Erik ten Hag as manager if Man Utd sack him, including role

Three clubs are interested in appointing Manchester United manager.

Three clubs are reportedly considering the appointment of Erik ten Hag as manager if he is sacked by Manchester United.

Ten Hag is nearing the end of his second season in charge at Old Trafford, having left Ajax to replace Ralf Rangnick in the summer of 2022.

After finishing in fourth place and winning the Carabao Cup last season, this season has been more inconsistent for United.

Despite reaching the FA Cup semi-finals with a 4-3 win over Liverpool last weekend, Ten Hag’s side were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage and face an uphill task to finish in the top four places in the Premier League.

And while Liverpool’s aforementioned victory was a huge boost for Ten Hag and his players, reports emerged earlier this week that United were considering the appointment of England manager Gareth Southgate at the end of the season.

Southgate, however, has branded those links ‘disrespectful‘, and has insisted that his only goal is to lead the Three Lions in Euro 2024 this summer.

However, if United decide to part ways with Ten Hag, there are three clubs that could offer him a new role.

That is according to daily starwho claim that Bayern Munich could offer him a dream role as coach of the eternal Bundesliga champion.

Moving to the Allianz Arena would see Ten Hag manage striker Harry Kane, who was reportedly interested in joining United ahead of his summer transfer to Bayern from Tottenham.

But Bayern have struggled this season under Thomas Tuchel, who will leave the club at the end of the season, and look set to miss out on the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2012, with Bayer Leverkusen set to benefit.

Xabi Alonso’s side are 10 points clear at the top of the table with eight games remaining, and it is their excellent performance this season that has generated great interest in the current Leverkusen manager.

If Alonso leaves the club this summer, Ten Hag is claimed to top the list of candidates to replace him.

And the third Bundesliga club that would be interested in signing the Dutchman is Stuttgart, who are also enjoying a good season at home so far.

They occupy third position in the standings, four points behind Bayern, and have the league’s second top scorer, Serhou Guirassy, with 22 goals to his name.

They are currently managed by former Stuttgart youth player Sebastian Hoeness, who took over last year, and it is not yet clear whether he would be replaced by Ten Hag if the opportunity arose.
