Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan Set Photos

Production is already underway on “A Complete Unknown,” the next Bob Dylan film directed by James Mangold and starring Timothée Chalamet as the iconic American musician. Photos from the New York City set have surfaced online, offering a first look at the 28-year-old actor in costume.

“A Complete Unknown” will follow Dylan’s emergence into the New York folk music scene during the 1960s, after the singer-songwriter moved from Minnesota to New York.

In the first look from the set, Chalamet can be seen wearing a vintage-looking scarf and putting on some gloves and a thick jacket. She looks like a snow day in New York to young Bob Dylan. Of course, he also carries a guitar with him.

Along with Chalamet, the cast of “A Complete Unknown” is also reported to include Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Nick Offerman as Alan Lomax and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash. Edward Norton stepped in to play the role of Pete Seeger after a production delay caused Benedict Cumberbatch to drop out.

“The best real-life movies are never cradle-to-grave, they’re about a very specific moment in time,” Mangold told the Happy Sad Confused podcast last year, discussing the film. “It’s kind of an ensemble piece about this time, early ’60s New York, and this 17-year-old kid with $16 in his pockets hitchhikes to New York to meet Woody Guthrie, who’s in the hospital and is dying of a nervous illness. He sings a song to Woody that he wrote for him and he becomes friends with Pete Seeger, who is like a son to Woody, and Pete sets him up with gigs at local clubs and there he meets Joan Baez and all these other people. that are part of this world.”
