Tish Cyrus has revealed that it was her look-alike daughter Miley who got her into the ‘devil’s drug’ marijuana after a near-fatal bus fire during the singer’s Bangerz tour in 2014.

The manager, 56, turned to drugs because she couldn’t sleep after the tour bus she was sleeping in exploded just minutes after she escaped.

Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Tish declared that she “loves marijuana” and gave insight into the breakdown of her marriage to ex Billy Ray, having a superstar daughter, and finding love again with the Prison Break star, Dominic Purcell.

When asked when she started smoking marijuana, Tish revealed that it was her daughter Miley, 31, who told her to take the “devil’s drug.”

She said: ‘I didn’t smoke marijuana until the Bangerz tour, 10 years ago. I was like “this is the devil, the gateway drug.”

‘But we were on tour and I’m on a new tour bus with Noah and Miley’s manager. I’m going to sleep, but there’s a fire from a tire explosion.

‘We pull over to the side of the road, I’m trying to find Noah, my dog, and wake up the manager. Three minutes later, the bus exploded. My pajamas, my laptop, everything burned. It was crazy.’

Tish was traumatized after the fire and had trouble falling asleep as she continued to tour the country with her daughter on a different bus.

She turned to an Ambien sleeping pill to help her, but it left her feeling “very bad.”

She said: ‘Miley said, ‘Mom, if you could smoke weed.’ That’s how it started. I started smoking to go to sleep.’

Tish later added, “I’m a Christian and I love marijuana.”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Tish talked about the time she begged a doctor to “put me in a mental hospital” after filing for divorce from her husband of 30 years, Billy Ray, 62, and the death of his beloved mother.

Tish is the mother of five children, daughters Brandi, Miley and Noah, and sons Trace and Braison.

Now looking back, Tish admits that she believes the marriage should have ended years earlier, as “there was a lot of disrespect on both sides.”

In 2010, Billy filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. But in 2011, the musician abandoned the divorce.

Two years later, Tish filed for divorce, but the couple rekindled their relationship.

In April 2022, the manager filed for divorce for the second time, with documents revealing that they had been separated for two years.

Speaking about why their marriage came to an end, the producer revealed that they had been living apart during the pandemic: she stayed in California with Miley, while Billy stayed in Tennessee.

She said: “Really during that period I looked hard at my life and thought, ‘What was I going to do?'” I hadn’t been in a good place for a long time.

‘I think I said so long for fear of being alone. I met him when I was 23/24 years old. Being alone and suddenly having the weight of my world lifted off of me somehow, I was able to just breathe and smoke weed in the garden and go skinny dipping in my pool. That’s what I did during Covid.

Tish married Prison Break actor Dom, 53, last year after a whirlwind romance which saw them say “I love you” to each other on their second date.

‘My two biggest fears in my life were being alone and my mother dying. I only remember calling Doctor Amen and telling him: “put me in a psychiatric hospital.”

‘I couldn’t eat, sleep or stop crying. He literally weighed like 130 pounds.’

‘Looking back, it would have been better for her if I had left. It would have been much better.

“I just never wanted to get divorced. My mom and dad met on a Monday and got married on a Friday. They were married for thirty years until my dad passed away.

‘The things I wanted my parents to have were an unreal kind of love. I was adopted. It was just good.

‘We get obsessed with what we want it to be. I look at it like, “I just want us to keep our family together,” like it seems perfect but it’s really hard.

‘When everything fell apart, I stopped changing. I literally made the decision to move on with my life, it worked out for the better.

‘I will never tolerate disrespect. I didn’t even know until I was in a new relationship that there was so much respect, how much disrespect there was in my previous marriage, from both of us.’

She said of how their romance blossomed: ‘I would always say Dom is my hall pass. I would joke about it “it’s heartbreaking that we’re not a couple.”

In 2016, Dom texted me. She had followed him on Instagram. He simply said; “Hey Tish, I just wanted to tell you that what you’re doing is great.” I didn’t see him for a year.

Tish revealed that it was her oldest daughter, Brandi, who saw the message and realized the manager had been blocked.

Tish said: ‘His ex had seen that he had messaged me and blocked me on Instagram. I almost peed my pants: “why am I blocked?”

‘We were laughing so hard. I was doing the “I’m going to be alone forever” thing with my friend on FaceTime. And she said, “DM him right now.”

“They unblocked me and I sent him a little DM and said I was a big fan of Prison Break, would you like to chat about doing a show for NBC?

‘Three seconds later, he says, “Yes, Tish, I’ve always had a crush on you.” So we go to lunch and kiss for three hours in a pub. I can’t even say how wonderful it is.

‘He said when I texted him he knew it wasn’t a show. She looked good on me, Miley helped me with a dress.

‘The next day he said, “I love you,” and I said, “I love you too.”‘
