Sachin Tendulkar is the epitome of what batting perfection is supposed to be. Over three decades, Sachin Tendulkar gave billions of Indians numerous moments worth cherishing. His career was highlighted by stupendous batting records, some of which may never be surpassed. The Master Blaster returned to action on the cricket field in an Indian Street Premier League match on Wednesday. It is a T10 tournament, with celebrities like Kareen Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Amitabh Bachchan among the famous team owners.

In the fun match, which featured Sachin Tendulkar, Robin Uthappa, Akshay Kumar among others, the champion batsman was dismissed by Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui. While batting on 30, Tendulkar overtook Faruqui and was trapped. “Complete silence in the stadium,” the commentator said.

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday said that playing in the Ranji Trophy gives domestic players a chance to get back to the basics and at the same time raise the standard of the domestic tournament. Recently, the BCCI made it mandatory for its centrally contracted players to play domestic cricket if they were not on national duty or in the NCA. The BCCI excluded Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from its central contract list after they missed their state team’s respective Ranji Trophy games. “When Indian players turn out for their national teams, the quality of the game for youngsters increases and sometimes new talent is identified.

“This also gives domestic players a chance to sometimes rediscover the basics,” Tendulkar wrote in X.

“Throughout my career, I was passionate about playing for Mumbai whenever I got a chance. When I was a kid, we had 7-8 Indian players in our dressing room, and it was fun to play alongside them,” Tendulkar added.

Kishan, 25, did not feature for Jharkhand during the team’s entire Ranji Trophy campaign despite not being on national duty after quitting the tour of South Africa in December citing personal reasons. Instead, he focused on preparing for the IPL for his franchise Mumbai Indians.

Iyer, on the other hand, was unavailable for Mumbai’s Ranji quarter-final against Baroda after being left out of the Indian team after the second Test against England. He, however, played in Mumbai’s Ranji semi-final against Tamil Nadu.

Tendulkar believes that the participation of star Indian players playing for their state teams will also generate more interest in the national tournaments.

“With top players participating in domestic tournaments, over time, fans will also start following and supporting their national teams much more. It’s great to see @BCCI giving the same priority to domestic cricket.”
