Pop superstar Usher and his longtime partner, Jennifer Goicoechea, quietly tied the knot in Las Vegas just hours after the R&B singer’s successful halftime show during Sunday’s Super Bowl game. The Hollywood Reporter I can confirm.
Surrounded by family and close friends, “they both look forward to continuing to raise their children together surrounded by love and thank everyone for the well wishes,” a rep for Usher said.
The couple’s whirlwind night saw them go from Usher’s lauded performance at Allegiant Stadium to the outdoor Vegas Weddings event. Gazebo on the terracewhere they were married in an intimate ceremony, the AP reports.
“Congratulations to the newlyweds! What a great game and Usher’s performance was phenomenal!” Melody Willis-Williams, president of Vegas Weddings, said in a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter. “We were beyond excited to host this epic day for Usher and his new wife.”
The couple of five years, who have two young children together, invited the star’s 45-year-old mother, Jonnetta Patton, as a witness and, according to court documents, their wedding was officiated by the Rev. Ronald Joseph Polrywka, who is known locally as Elvis impersonator Ron DeCar.
The couple may have tipped off Las Vegas revelers and the press about their post-Super Bowl nuptials as they celebrated in the city later. Wrapped in a floor-length white fur coat on Sunday night, Usher was photographed at postgame parties and also sported a gold band on his left ring finger. Goicoechea was wearing an all-white jacket and pants combination.
News that the couple had obtained a marriage license in Las Vegas last week was widely reported Monday morning following the publication of court documents in clark county. As images of Usher wearing a ring surfaced online later Monday, so did the couple’s Marriage Certificate.
This is Usher’s second marriage. The “Yeah” singer was previously married to fashion designer Tameka Foster, with whom he shares sons Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 16, and Navid Ely, 15.
The pop star’s busy week included the release of her ninth studio album, Coming homeon Friday and the announcement that he will extend his Tour Past Present Future. His Usher: My Way Las Vegas The residency ended in December after 100 performances.
