‘Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Sandoval compares scandal to George Floyd

When a reality TV star finds herself caught up in a cheating scandal, certainly one that has captured the nation, it’s never a good idea to compare it to the brutal murder of a man at the hands of the police.

But that’s exactly what Tom Sandoval, star of Vanderpump Rules and the man at the center of the cheating scandal just did it in a New York Times profile.

When asked why Scandoval, who started during the Bravo series at the end of last season, had become so big, Sandoval said: “I’m not really a pop culture historian, but I witnessed the OJ Simpson thing and of George Floyd and all that.” These big things, I think it’s really weird to compare this to that, but do you think in some weird way it’s kind of the same?

At the center of the scandal, Sandoval cheated on his then-partner Ariana Madix with one of her best friends, Rachel Leviss. He broke out when the Bravo show’s 10th season was airing, but was captured in several reunion specials and its impact extended into season 11, which is currently airing.

He also believes that he has suffered more grief than the previous one. That 70’s show star Danny Masterson. “I feel like I have more hate than Danny Masterson, and he’s a convicted rapist,” he added.

Elsewhere in the profile, Sandoval said: “I did what I did because I was in an unhappy place in my life. I got caught up in my emotions and fell completely in love. Like really.”

Vanderpump Rules is produced by Amazon MGM Studios’ Evolution Media and executive produced by Alex Baskin, Jen McClure-Metz, Joe Kingsley, Jeremiah Smith, Natalie Neurauter, Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd.
