Former WWE boss Vince McMahon is currently embroiled in a lawsuit for sexual assault and trafficking, which was hosted by former employee Janel Grant. However, although McMahon has since resigned from his executive positions at TKO Group Holdings and WWE, Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis, said. NewsNation‘s “Morning In America” that they hope the lawsuit will change WWE for the better and encourage more victims to come forward.
“It has been a long process and she (Grant) wants to speak on behalf of other victims and eradicate this culture of corruption that has permeated every cell of the WWE.”
The lawsuit, which also contains allegations against John Laurinaitis and an unnamed superstar believed to be Brock Lesnar, paints a toxic picture of the culture in WWE at the time. Callis claims her client felt like a prisoner and staff members allowed it to happen. Additionally, Callis implied that Grant’s case is not an isolated incident. She noted that people have reached out to her and offered support since the lawsuit became public.
“My office and inbox have had a flood of people wanting to come forward to testify to this culture of corruption and also potential victims. We’re just starting to look at all of this, but we’re frankly overwhelmed.”
WWE recently removed all mention of Vince McMahon’s name from his profile page, and he is now under investigation by federal prosecutors. Meanwhile, Lesnar’s merchandise has been removed from the WWE Store and is not being considered in the company’s creative plans.
A spokesperson for McMahon contacted Wrestling Inc. with the following statement: “This lawsuit is filled with lies, made-up obscene cases that never occurred, and vindictive distortion of the truth. He will defend himself vigorously.”
